With the 2008 WWE Draft Monday on Raw, not one SmackDown Superstar is safe. How will the Draft shake up Friday nights? Which Superstars will be arriving, and who will be departing? And how will the change in the roster affect next Sunday's Night of Champions?

One thing is certain, if World Heavyweight Champion Edge and United States Champion Matt Hardy both remain unscathed by the Draft, they will go one-on-one Friday night, as first announced by Edge exclusively on WWE Mobile on AT&T. Will the longtime rivals head into action against each other?

On Friday's SmackDown, General Manager Vickie Guerrero took her power position to new levels. First, she interrupted MVP's VIP Lounge, informing the Ballin' Superstar he'd face ECW Champion Kane later in the night, a match he lost via count-out. Would the Franchise Playa be better suited on another brand? Or will SmackDown's highest-paid Superstar remain on Friday nights?

After Kane defeated MVP, Mark Henry attacked the Big Red Machine, flattening him with the World's Strongest Slam. It's no secret Henry has his eyes set on ECW gold, but will Kane successfully defend his title against Big Show at Night of Champions?

Also on SmackDown, United States Champion Matt Hardy faced Bam Neely, the bodyguard of his Night of Champions opponent, Chavo Guerrero. The one-man fence made an impressive singles debut, but referee Charles Robinson ejected Chavo Guerrero from ringside for interference. Will Hardy continue his winning ways heading into Night of Champions? What role will Neely play in the United States Championship match?

Later on, the GM's power trip continued, when she punished referee Robinson by forcing him to face The Great Khali. Khali brutally leveled Robinson with a Vise Grip. Will Khali continue to dominate Friday nights or will he be drafted?

The vindictive General Manager stacked the deck one final time on Friday night when she named her fiancé guest referee in a match between Chavo Guerrero and Batista. With Edge's help, Vickie Guerrero's nephew picked up the win by count-out over The Animal.

Have Chavo Guerrero and Edge gained the momentum they need before their title matches against Hardy and Batista at Night of Champions? Will Edge's best man be boasting gold around his waist as he stands up for the groom in three weeks?

Also on SmackDown, Jesse & Festus faced Deuce & Domino. The duo hasn't exactly been "all about cool" lately, as their friendship took a turn for the worse. Is this the end of Deuce & Domino? Can their friendship be saved? Will the Draft break up the fabulous '50s friends?

One-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, The Miz, met one of his Night of Champions opponents, Finlay, on SmackDown. The Miz's tag partner, John Morrison, offered his commentary during the match, but eventually got caught up with Hornswoggle, which distracted The Miz and led to a victory for Finlay. Will Irish eyes smile at Night of Champions or will Miz & Morrison once again retain their tag gold? Will either duo be broken up by Monday's Draft?

Finally, ECW Diva Layla met Michelle McCool in Divas action. The All-American Girl picked up the win as Divas Championship contender, Natalya, looked on. Who will catch Vickie Guerrero's eye and a chance to face Natalya? Will any of the Divas in contention for the Championship be affected by Monday's Draft?

To find out the answers to these questions and more, don't miss Monday's special three-hour Raw featuring the live 2008 WWE Draft, beginning at 8/7 CT. Tune in to Friday Night SmackDown at 8/7 CT only on The CW Network. Night of Champions is next Sunday at 8/7 CT, live, only on pay-per-view.

On Tour With Kelly Kelly

Posted by Donny | Thursday, June 19, 2008

From high school cheerleader to aspiring journalist to saucy World Wrestling star, Kelly Kelly's career has followed a varied path - to say the least.

The star will join fellow wrestlers including Undertaker and Batista on a WWE tour across Australia in June.

Kelly found her way into wrestling via modelling while she in college studying to become a broadcast journalist, with hopes of becoming a TV anchor.

"I love [wrestling], I just love every day of it," she said.

"WWE contacted me through my modelling agency and they knew I had an athletic background so they sent me down to Atlanta, Georgia where they kicked my butt for a week straight and asked me if I wanted a job at the end of it."

At high school Kelly did gymnastics for 10 years until an injury forced her into cheerleading.

"I still get to use some of my moves so that's pretty good," she said.

Living the life of a professional wrestler working in one of the world's most high-profile pursuits is difficult, she said, with an almost constant training schedule and travel around the United States and overseas.

"Even on my off days now I'm still training, so I try to get into the ring and learn different stuff," she said.

"We consider ourselves a big family [inside wrestling], some people have their own little cliques and we try to get along a best we can."

When Kelly first began as a wrestler she was billed as a "self-proclaimed exhibitionist" and put on strip shows called "Kelly Kelly's Expose".

"My jealous boyfriend Mike Knox used to come out and try and wrap a towel around me but I would still do it and eventually we broke up and I formed Extreme Expose with Booke and Layla and we were a little group who danced every week," she said.

"That ended so now Layla and I are going at each other's throats every week.

"The first night I did it [expose] my nerves were through the roof and then every week after if kept getting easier, but I still get nervous out there now."

She might not dance much any more, but Kelly is looking forward to a long career in wrestling.

"I plan to be here as long as I can," she said.

According to pwowrestling.net, former ECW Champion and WWE US Champion, Bobby Lashley has been telling his friends that he has signed with a small mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion on purpose with the intention of hoping to rank up with impressive wins and then move on to bigger MMA promotions such as UFC, EliteXC, or Affliction. Lashley is confirmed to be fighting for the American Fight League (AFL) twice in a non-exclusive deal. It's mean he will be able to continue accepting bookings from independent wrestling circuits.

Sources close to Lashley say that he doesn't seem keen on TNA, even though people in TNA have been doing their best to recruit him. Lashley seems a lot more serious on his MMA career but will still continue to accept independent wrestling bookings. If TNA make Lashley a strong financial offer or if his MMA career doesn't kick off, we could see things changing.

WWE literally pumped up the volume around its weekly million dollar giveaway stunt as it rolled out WWE celebrities and two of the first round winners to a throng of screaming fans and the accompaniment of loud music at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City's Times Square last week.

The stunt doesn't seem to need any additional hype: WWE claims more than one million fans registered two million entries for the sweepstakes on WWE.com for the start of the contest last week. (Fans can register one entry daily.) WWE also claimed fans signed up at a rate of 9,000 per minute during the "Monday Night Raw" cablecast on USA Network, WWE chairman Vince McMahon revealed the code they needed to win if they were among the lucky few to get a phone call from him during the live show.

"Money, money, yeah, yeah," the fans packed into the Hard Rock chanted as WWE ring stars John Cena, Triple H, and diva Maria were introduced. "This is a chance for you to be rewarded for years of loyalty," said Cena, who is about to face Triple H for the WWE Championship.

Triple H aimed a few verbal barbs at Cena about their upcoming ring tussle. But the champion is actually determined by whose merchandise is selling best. It's carefully orchestrated mayhem, just like the Times Square event, which drew those rabid fans through e-mail blasts.

"The true story of how I got to be WWE Champ, I married Vince's daughter," Triple H quipped. The fans roared their approval, as they did virtually on cue at every interval.

The ying and yang of the first week's winners were on hand: Gil Rosenzweig, who won $250,000, and Sarah Fuhrmann, who got $2 (and a trip to New York for the event).
"It's not every day you get a call from Vince McMahon," a beaming Fuhrman said.

Standing at a plexi glass podium that supposedly contained $1 million, McMahon said his objective with the giveaway is "to being attention to the greatest brand in the history of the US."

While "Monday Night Raw" remains a top rated cable entry, its ratings have been relatively flat, so the giveaway would appear to be aimed at bringing millionaire wannabes to the screen.

Afterwards, McMahon said he hopes to broaden WWE's "middle class" audience base with the stunt

Asked how much he figured $1 million a week was worth in ratings, McMahon said, "I don't know that if it's worth a lot in ratings." He still won't say how long he'll continue the stunt, but said that depended on the response – including "Monday Night Raw" ratings.

"I think there's a limit. I might be crazy, but I'm not that crazy," he said.

He insists the money is "absolutely" coming from his own pocket. His money, of course, comes from WWE revenues since he owns 70% of the company's stock.
